Make
a difference, become a RAIN volunteer
RAIN always welcomes
people who want to make a difference in the lives of animals.
There are many opportunities available, foster care, adoption counseling, etc. just to name a few.
- Are you someone who wants to do their part to help animals?
- Do you have a few hours or more a month to spare?
- Do you feel that there is something to do about pet overpopulation?
- Do you always pick up that stray or lost animal that comes across your path?
- Do you just love animals?

Foster a kitten, cat puppy or dog!
Ain't life rough?
Get the whole family in on it, even if the rest of the family is other animal companions! Your animal may just find a new friend! It's fun, rewarding and a great feeling to know you have helped to save a life.
Do you have what it takes?
- It doesn't take much. You provide the love and care and we provide you with the food, supplies and veterinary care.
- All we ask of you is that you provide a loving and open home to an animal in need
- You also will need to be able to get the animal to the vet for scheduled care and to our adoption sites.
- It's fun, rewarding, and helps keep you warm on our cold winter nights.

Our homes are their homes, but just until they find their own
“How can you not keep them all?” It’s probably the question we hear the most as foster parents!
Yes, we do get attached. Yes, we do love them. But the reward of seeing your foster animal go happily to a new loving home where they will be spoiled is a very wonderful thing to see (and feel).
Often times it is with a final kiss that we give our fosters over to their new "people". But how can we do this? The more appropriate question is how could I not? It’s always hard to give up a foster "kid" that you have become attached to, but to deny this animal that wonderful home would be selfish on our part as foster parents. And now as a foster parent, you have room for the next foster "kid" who needs us on the way to their new home! And let me tell you how rewarding it feels to go to animal control and save another life off death row. It's a great feeling.
"Knowing that by adopting your fosters out, you can save other lives puts it all in perspective. Yes the first few fosters are the hardest, but it does get easier to let them go" - RAIN foster volunteer
Volunteer
Opportunities
Adoption Counselor (4-5 hours
per month)
Adoption Counselors are trained to interview and screen potential adopters and help them select the perfect animal companion. As an adoption counselor you help set up at the adoption site, working directly with a senior adoption counselor and assist in the adoption process
Foster Homes (ongoing care)
Approved
foster homes provide foster care to rescued cats, kittens, puppies or dogs in
their own homes. RAIN provides the supplies and you provide the tender loving
care. Foster volunteers have a mentor that they work with in order to answer questions
and obtain assistance. All foster homes are screened through a series of questions
and a home visit before they can be approved. All foster homes must be able to
get their animal to and from the vet for care and to and from the adoption site
for adoptions.
