Our Mission:
Our mission has changed recently as we decided to focus our efforts on providing low-cost spay/neuter opportunties for animals in order to help eliminate unwanted births and to help decrease the pet overpopulation problem.
RAIN started in 2001 and until February 2009 we rescued cats and dogs from the local shelters before their time ran out. We provided them with all necessary veterinary care, including spay/neuter, and fostered them in our homes until they were adopted into new loving homes. Our goal was to provide for these foster animals and find them their permanent home. We have always been a small organization and kept it that was as we felt it worked best to have a small group of hard-working, dedicated volunteers who all had the same mission, ideals and goals. During our 8 years we found homes for over 900 animals. 75% of those animals were saved from the local animal shelters with the other 25% coming from good samaritans, vet offices or as strays.
We decided late last year to change our focus and develop a way to provide spay and neuter certificates for low cost surgery to individuals who need assistance, especially during these challenging financial times. Changes in our own work lives, personal lives, families, children, etc. was a small part of our deciding factor in shifting our focus. We start this new venture with a solid financial backing and will be providing more information as our new program is developed.
We will no longer be active in rescuing and fostering animals but will be helping to give aid in spay and neuter to continue to decrease the pet overpopulation problem in the Sacramento area.
Thank you for all your support for the past 8 years and we look forward to continued support and success in our future endeavor.
