Our Mission:
To provide no-kill companion animal rescue and adoption services, including spay and neuter, veterinary care, and foster care of abandoned and abused animals.
To inform the public about responsible animal guardianship, humane treatment of animals and the importance of controlling pet overpopulation.
Who are we?
We are a Sacramento area no-kill (not-for-profit, tax exempt 501(c)3) animal rescue and adoption agency which focuses on the rescue of cats, kittens, dogs and puppies from the local animal control facilities in the Sacramento area.
What is the RAIN animal difference?
Our foster animals live in our homes just like our own animals. To find our more, read the letter from our president!
What is the no-kill philosophy?
"No kill is the practice of nonlethal methods to reduce pet overpopulation and to improve the quality of life for homeless animals. When there are no alternatives available, no-kill humane organizations do put down animals who are seriously ill or very aggressive towards humans and other animals. No-kill shelters perform authentic euthanasia, not to be confused with the misuse of the same term by others who kill healthy animals in the name of "euthanasia.” This misuse of words results in confusion, even among caregivers."
